Brilliant pub , up on the Pennines ! I have visited and eaten here many times!! Today I had a proper Yorkshire Farmers Dinner , Barnsley Chop! It was huge!!!! A fantastic GLUTEN FREE option!! The GLUTEN FREE menu is great!! Lots of choice! It's a great place to come during the Summer too , to watch the Sunset!! The staff are very pleasant and helpful! It was rammed , so best to leave it until later to eat! One of my favourite pubs!

Cannot rate the food and service highly enough here. Went for opening time at 530 on a Saturday evening. All the food we ordered was off their specials menu board, and it was absolutely amazing. We arrived at 5pm to make sure we got a table when when doors opened at 530. By the time the doors opened there was a queue of people waiting to get in. That gave me ever idea that the food was going to be good, boy I wasn't wrong. 5 HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Thank you to everyone for making our evening nice and enjoyable.

The Host and all the team members were fantastic. We booked a table for 17, 9 adults...8 kids at short notice for a birthday meal The Host and team were all happy, friendly and pleasant. Our drinks and food orders arrived at the on time so no one was waiting for their food or order Over all a great delight to have dined in pleasant friendly atmosphere.

A great little pub with excellent food and friendly service. It was a busy lunchtime but we were able to get a table and the food came quickly. Excellent light roast beef along with homemade leek and potato soup, really tasty and good value for money.

Update 27/2/25 Another great meal at this excellent local restaurant. Arrived at 7pm place was rammed full landlord stated it’s been full since opening time 530! Ordered garlic mushrooms to start and a steak and mushroom pie . Lady ordered soup and lamb Henry both excellent she can’t eat big meals so ended up with a doggy bag . Cannot fault this place . Sat in front of a lovely log burner so warm and cozy . We will be back First time at the Whitehouse for at least 25 years and the place hasn’t changed one bit ... in a good way. Arrived at 545 on a Saturday afternoon you can’t book unless larger table over 5 but went early it was rammed already which is a good sign . Food gammon eggs very tasty lady had steak strips in a spicy sauce all enjoyed very much two pints of cider and two large red wines 52 all comparable to the other. Saddleworth must go to the Church Inn ... is it as good ? yes but both places food very good and serving staff great . But Whitehouse much better Enjoyable will go again and again 7/11/2023 revisit Welcomed by staff on a miserable wet cold Tuesday afternoon . Warm inside roaring fires great start. Two large glasses of Malbec absolutely perfect Cod mornay with prawns amazing . Great food will be back 29/11 another visit Haddock and prawn mornay and steak strips simply Devine . Love this place the CvT Merlot amazing too
